...when the kids at school formed their first band, he laughed at them. Now the most fun he has is through music :-j

I started my band around 2005. Why Císař Band? Isn't it a little egotistical? The answer is yes, but mainly it's practical.

...as soon as The Riverside Blues Band finished, I formed my own group.

Císař Band is a jazz-blues quartet made up of great young musicians. The leader is charismatic singer and contrabassist, Jan Císař. Rock was his main interest in the beginning and for many years he played bass guitar in different bands. His interest in the blues was sparked by listening to records by Peter Green, Johnny Winter, and other r&b bands. Jan then decided to switch to contrabass. He performed for several years as a blues duo and travelled around Europe as a trio with The Riverside Blues Band. His great sense of swing can change any band into a steaming boiler of blues.
